Gurudwara Bala Sahib
|
Gurdwara Bala Sahib is located in Bhagwan Nagar, near Ashram, on the Outer Ring Road, New Delhi.
This gurdwara is associated with the Sixth Guru, Shri Guru Harkishen Sahib Ji. Guruji took care of the people of Delhi during the epidemic of cholera and smallpox that had broken out during his presence in the city. Muslims and Hindus follwed the young Guru wherever he went. Impressed with his radiant and serene personality, the Muslims reverently called him Bala Pir.
However, the Guru contracted smallpox himself and passed away in March, 1664. He was cremated at the site of this Gurdwara. The Angithas of Mata Sundri Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji are also present here.
