Gurudwara Sri Qutal Garh Sahib

Gurdwara Sri Qatalgarh Sahib is situated in the city of Chamkaur Sahib in District Ropar. It is connected by road to Ropar to the Ludhiana-Chandigarh Highway at Samrala and Morinda. It is 50 mtrs. to the west of Gurdwara Garhi Sahib.
Gurdwara Sri Qatalgarh Sahib is situated at the site where most of hand-to-hand fight took place between Sikh forces and Mughal forces on 7th December, 1705. it is here that, Sahibzada Ajit Singh and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh earned martydom.
It is said that Sahibzada fought with great skill and valour. They drew admiration from friends and foes alike. After putting several soldiers to death, they fell and died a glorious death, immortalising themselves for all times. When ammunition of the Sikh army was exhausted, the Khalsa soldiers came out of the fortress with naked swords in their hands and launched a fierce offensive against Moghuls. Out of five beloved ones, three e.g. Bhai Sahib Singh Ji, Bhai Himmat Singh Ji, Bhai Mohakam Singh Ji alongwith number of Sikh soldiers fought well and laid their lives. Nearby a vast hall known as Akal Bunga. It was used for the daily congregations before. To the west of Akal Bunga is an old Baoli Sahib which is still in use. The annual Shahidi Jor Mela is held on december 20-22 every year. Hola Mohalla, Prakash Divan of 10th Patshahi and Dussehra are also celebrated here.
